Okay. Just want to get this out of the way. I'm 16, and I have a reddish bump, just one, on the shaft of my penis...ugh...I can't believe I just said that. I remember a while back I saw a doctor for a physical, and had a bump on my penis (I think), which went away, and he said it was just a pore or something....and said it meant I'm perfectly healthy.

Un-wanted details: I'm a complete, pathetic virgin on all levels. SORRY FOR THIS NEXT PART. The reason I thought this might be why I have the bump, is because...I've basically masterbate either: once a day/once every two days/once every three days...but recently, for some stupid reason, I did it twice in the same day...it was a long day at work...ugh...

Bottom line is...for the love of God, please don't say I have an STD.

Man, I guess I just over-reacted, like normal.

Thanks everyone.

What are you so ashamed of? First of all, this is your health we're talking about. You MUST tend to your health, so you should not be shy about it. Second, being a virgin is a good thing. I'm 21 and still a virgin, and I'll tell anyone who asks me about it. They can say what they like, but I refuse to be ashamed. I just tell them the truth: I haven't found a woman worth my time or energy yet, and I'm really too busy to be looking for one.

Now, as to your problem: The answer really depends on what the bump looks like. I don't want you to email me a picture of the bump, so I'll just list all the possibilities I'm aware of. It could be any of the following:
1) A pimple. These are common, so don't worry. Rarely should they be popped. I've never seen a red one though.
2) A burst capillary (which is a very minor injury that results from squeezing hard, no need to worry as it will go away by itself). I used to get these a lot, but I haven't had many of them in a long time. Burst capillaries are about the size of a dot from an ink pen. They heal by themselves and require no treatment, although you might consider lightening up your grip a little bit.
3) Some sort of blister or skin irritation. Avoid soap when masturbating, because it will irritate your skin.
4) A bruise. This is rarer than any of the above, and will require several days (possibly a week or two, if it's really bad) of rest in order to heal. If you have this, you really need to be more gentle with yourself.
5) Some sort of disease. This seems most unlikely.

I think it is most likely a burst capillary. Don't sweat it unless it starts looking like something else. And please don't be embarrassed about health concerns! Too many guys are embarrassed when it comes to health problems, and too many women get offended when the topic comes up. If you ignore your health, even for a seemingly minor reason, it can really hurt you! Good night!

Everyone's pretty much answered your question. Correct. If you have never had sexual contact, you can not have an STD, so stop worrying about that.

Basically, your doc gave you a clean bill of health, so no worries here either about other major infections.

Bumps are usually hair follicles, or clogged pores.

Sounds like a basic skin irritation. Did your doc recommend using Phisohex or medicinal soap for cleansing down there? What are you using currently? Some of the popular body washes can be a little harsh/too drying for that region.

Undergarments? Boxers or briefs can sometimes make a difference.

Finally, you describe yourself as "a complete, pathetic virgin on all levels," so is there a possibility you are overly concerned with the appearance of your genetalia? 16 is still pretty young (although you may not think so), and likely you are feeling peer pressure like never before when in comes to getting some sexual experience.

So, my take on your sit, is that you may be overly worried about the virginity and masturbation issues, and this has caused a preoccupation with your genitals. Physically, and mentally, you are totally healthy. At your age, these kind of concerns are typical.

Yer A-OK, dude!

YOu are okay. The bump is just like the doctor said, normal part of penis health. You need to get over feeling so phobic about your penis. Your penis is a normal important part of being male and is a very wonderful thing. It enables you to be a father and in the meantime brings you great pleasure and wonderful feelings. Masturbation is okay and normal. It is healthy for your reproductive system, and it helps you to control stress and sexual anxiety. You should feel free to masturbate as often as you like with out having any guilty feelings about it. Since you have chosen to stay virgin, a very smart choice, masturbation is a very important sexual release. Masturbation is the safest sex their is. You can not get any STD's masturbating yourself and you won't get any young lady pregnant Just remember it is a form of sex and should be done privately and kept personal. Also, masturbation is not a sin. It is not mentioned in the bible in either the old or new testament. So enjoy your sex life and get rid of the guilt.

definitely not STD bro... STD or sexually transmitted disease... you cant have it if your not having sex, u said you're a virgin so there is no way you have STD. maybe its just a mild irritation and it will just disappear like the first one... all you have to do is to take a bath everyday, proper hygiene is the key. and one more thing, the reddish bump is not a result of wanking of twice a day...

if youve never had sexual contact theres no way you could have an std. it is entirely possible to have acne or something like acne called pearly penile papules on the penis. these can turn into pimples. it is also possible it could be an ingrown hair. whatever it is if it concerns you, go to your Dr. and get it checked out. But if you've never had sexual contact of any kind then dont worry about std's

It's just a sore caused by friction, it'll go away. You only have to worry about catching STD when having unprotected sex with another person other than yourself.

I don't think you have an SDT. The only conceivable way that you might have one is, and keep mind this is far fetched, but someone in your household has one and they used your towel and then you used that towel in the pelvic region or you touched something tht someone in your family contaminated and than touched yourself. Again, that is very far fetched, I'm guessing you have nothing to worry about.
