That's an open question. Many astronomers and mathematicians believe that it is statistically unlikely that we are alone in the universe. However, it is probably just as unlikely that we will ever be visited by "aliens". The universe is a very big place and nothing can travel faster than the speed of light. Even if we could approach that speed (which we can't), it would take years just to reach the nearest stars, and there might not be life in those systems.
The Drake Equation is a famous attempt at a statistical evaluation of the possibility of life elsewhere in the universe. Check out the URL below.
Carl Sagan, who was a professor at Cornell University and a prolific author, wrote about the possibility. Check out his website (address below).
The unmanned spaceship Voyager has actually left our Solar system, but there are no plans for human to follow yet.

re: being alone in the universe: it's a matter of probability... peter lobell has covered that pretty well.

re: exiting the solar system... Bill Bryson's excellent book "A Short History of Nearly Everything" discusses this. Just to get to pluto would take ages. But technically, the solar system stretches way out to the Oort Cloud, which would take about 10,000 years travelling at our current top speed. In other words, unless we find some great new energy source (maybe) or work out how to travel at at least light speed (almost certainly not) its not going to happen in our lifetimes, and probably never.

(Bryson is not an astronomer, but he talked with experts)

Humans are not alone in the Universe, but you are a sad dead-end that is about to happen. Over the centuries, your planet was a curious place to visit once or twice and was not considered very interesting . Sure, your wars showed us how undeveloped you are as a species and your infantile,(in cosmic terms) dependence on god concepts does not bode well for you. We are now showing an interest in you because it is not often that we get to observe a species commit suicide. You are so close to maturing as a sentient species and it will be a shame to see you kill yourselves. There are just not enough of you becoming rational enough to force the issue. You let the least among you determine your fate, so be it.

You mean the way Lebanese crossed Israeli border and kidnapped soldiers leading to a war( or Space war in this context).

I believe that may not occur in the near future. This doesn't rule out the possibility that there may be humans -humans like creatures, but it is difficult to see them. With the existing technology we may "communicate" with them.
