Absolutely! The number of hurricanes forecast for this year has been lowered. The chances of you being significantly affected by a hurricane is very small. OK, should a tropical storm or hurricane come your way, you might get some bad weather but bear in mind that the state of Florida is the same size as the UK - its a very big place. We have freinds that live in the north of Florida they had bad weather from the last storm that affectd them - we were unaffected in our villa orlando.

I would say it depends on what part of Florida you plan to visit. I was in Orlando last September (after Hurricane Katrina, during Hurricane Rita). Both of those storms were on the Gulf Coast of Florida (western side) I was in Disney World and will be there the same time this year. (can't beat the prices and the crowds are small)

There have been only two days since Disneyworld's openeing in 1971 when Disney parks haven't opened because of weather concerns. Disney monitors weather very closely and communicates changing conditions to cast members very quickly. Walt Disney World is recognized by NOAA National Weather Service as a StormReady community. Disney has the only theme parks and resorts in the nation to achieve the distinction. To be recognized as StormReady, a community (or in this case, a resort) must establish an emergency operations center, have multiple means to receive severe weather information, monitor weather conditions and issue alerts, promote the importance of public readiness through education efforts, and develop a formal hazardous weather plan which includes emergency exercises.

The risk is very low, and even if one hit, it would be unlikely to disrupt your vacation because Orlando is so far inland. I've been there twice when there were hurricaines. One time the hurricaine was headed towards Orlando, but ended up hitting southern FL instead. Very little impact in Orlando. The other time, the hurricaine came right through Orlando one night. The parks were open the next day, but there were tree limbs all over the place and it rained all day. Most, but not all, rides were open, so we just walked around and made the best of it. The following day, you would never have guessed a hurricaine came through. The weather was beautiful.

I have been visiting Orlando that time of year for the last 15 years.Only once did i get caught in REALLY bad weather. There was times when it was windy and rainy but nothing to bad. Other than the rain, which you'll get there any time of year the weather is usually really nice. Don't put off your holiday just because of a what if!! Anything could happen anywhere!

I cannot honestly comment on all parts of FL but I have been to the Orlando area on 3 separate occasions.

In the Disney World and Universal complexes, during the actual storm for safety they shut the parks, but the next day they open again with very little change in operations.

I have been told that they build the amusements and buildings in the parks (both) to very high standards and that there work crews train for cleanup and repair for situations like this.

I hope this helps.

hurricane season is from june 1 to november 30. these are the real dates, people keep posting incorrect ones, but this is from the noa hurricane center website. end of august and september are usually the busiest hurricande times in florida. so it may be fine and it may not. disney has a very generous hurricane policy-if you cancel due to hurricane you can come back anytime. i would check into cancellation policies of your airline, hotel, etc. before you decide to go.

The hurricane season is from April until October. I lived there for 6 years on the gulf side. The best time for travel is November and late January to the middle of April. Most come in February.

Each year is different so this is a little difficult to answer. However, when I lived there, September was definitely the height of hurricane season.

It is safe, your holiday might get disrupted though if a hurricane does come along. Depending on the severity, you might have to transfer hotels.

The hurricane season ends in November so it's not completely safe. This year has been pretty calm so far, though.
