I recall there being some commandment, "Thou shalt not kill?"

First, there's nothing in the Bible I know of about killing the mentally handicapped -- no idea where you got that from.

Second, the Old Testament didn't just establish religious guidelines for the Israelites. The purpose of the Mosaic Law was civil as well as religious, much as our state and federal laws are today. Hence, there would be crimes and punishments in the Mosaic Law just like in any secular law, and because witchcraft and homosexual acts are such extremely society-defying acts, they were considered worthy of execution. However, that was in OT times, not under the NT rules which are meant to govern the church only, not society as a whole, and the NT's greatest punishment is excommunication, not the death penalty.

Well you know King James re-wrote the bible twice (do your history) and he is the one who put in there to kill witches (even tough they helped him threw many illness) the other thing when does it become appropriate for a King to write in the bible...Was the holy man himself talking to him (yeah right) there is to many contradictions in the bible.. And I suggest that some of you re-read you bible and study it and also maybe get your hands on the banished books of the bible. before you go beating people over there heads with you all mighty knowledge.

Christians are supposed to be loving people who do not pass judgment because it is not there job to do...But unfortunately it seems allot of "Christians" love to judge.

The world should be open minded and let people live and practice as they see fit, because they will have to answer in the end for the way they live there life.

I also must have missed that in the bible. Is this in response to the Islam topic? It's hardly a comparison, because they aren't Christians that kidnap handicapped, gays and witches to cut off their heads.

Christianity teaches to refrain from foolish questions. In the beginning, Christianity taught reincarnation. None other
than Jesus said Elijah lived again as John the Baptist. Two
references in the book of Matthew.
We all live the whole range of lives, and commit acts of evil.
I'll never stop loving what the Kingpin said in the movie Daredevil.
"Ain't nobody innocent." God is not mocked. We reap what we sow. And what goes around, comes around. BELIEVE THAT!

According to the Judeo-Christian ethic, it is considered a sin to kill. What you find is that many different sects/branches of chrisitanity interpret the Bible different ways. So "groups" find some types of killing more suitable than others.

I have seen in my own life/world, that a fair number of Christians that i know also like to draw lines in the sand. they don't like gays, (in several cases) people of color, secular "folk", simply put, they don't like people unlike themselves. they would deny it, but if they looked around, they'd see it more than they thought. It really is an interesting ideal from a group of worshippers that believe in the sacrifice that Jesus made. I believe that Jesus died because he was a lover of mankind. In my opinion, once again, this is a case of man's egomanical drive to put themselves at the center of world. Bible states: "Man was created in God's image" - Looking at the vastness of the Universe i think that's a little short sighted to think that the force that created it was just like us...

You are confusing Christianity with the laws given to Israel during Moses' time when God was supposed to be their King.

any religion in this world will not teach to kill any thing. who said that Chiristianity says that it is okay to kill? refer to the ten commandment that given by God to Prophets Moses at Mount of Sinai, God has set that "we shall not kill".

It doesn't "say" that in the bible. It is not ok to kill. Jesus did not kill.
