There most likely won't be a lasting peace in the region for many many years to come.
With our country over 40 trillion in the whole, we might as well give away whatever we can anyways right? We gave all the weapons that killed many innocent people in Lebanon. The cluster bombs? Developed in America and sold to Israel.
I am very much Pro-America so don't get me wrong here. With the Foreign Policy (or lack thereof), we won't have lasting peace for decades.
Our "War on Terror" is going to last for decades in itself. Having commited to ridding our world of terror, we've commited ourselves to policing more people and giving more money out. With an overstretched military, I don't see how we can sustain additional fronts within any war, not without a Draft.... let's hope that never happens.
All in all, whether there is lasting peace in the M.E., American lives will never be spared. We have too much business to take care of right?

Yep, Justice is much more Noble and much more Cheap.
Maintaining an occupation turned out to be very expensive to the Europeans, so they stoped it. For the Israelis the story is different they don't pay so they will hold up to a land they don't own inch by inch untill we stop paying or go broke !!!
