Ok, I am planning on becoming a singer. Im 19, so now could be a good time to start. Obviously, I should start at a beginners pace. I want to be a rock singer..like Linkin Park-style rock..i guess they call it nu-metal. Also maybe try a Staind-type sound. I could maybe make them my influences. Im in a huge block right now and I dont know how to start out. I have no one that can play instruments (like drums, guitars, etc.)..i have no beat maker..Well, I have an electric guitar that I havent touched for years and I quit practicing. If I can continue practicing and get good at it, I can sing and play the guitar. I NEED SOME HELP!! anyone who has written music or knows how, please help me out! Thanx soo much!

well all i can say about the writing lyrics...is just write what you feel....and songs don't always have to rhyme (look at Panic! At The Disco's lyrics! LOL!) OMG linkin Park as an influence! AWESOME!!! and staind! OMG i hope you make it into the music biz! cuz your music would be interesting! I would luv to hear it! But yeah just go get a start on your guitar! If your 19 well i am like 4 yrs younger so i am just beginning to play bass teaching myself..but you go get a start on the guitar!! And you can always put adds in news papers to get some people to maybe play in a band with you! Whatever you decide to do just don't EVER give up your dream of being in a rock! band!!! See i have been practicing writing lyrics for a few months now and i am trying to teach myself to play bass..see i luv music and i wanna be in a band some day (rock band) and i hope i see you out there some day too cuz then i would know you never gave up on this dream of yours. all advice i can give is keep wroking on it and never gie up! go buy a mic and start singing and start playing guitar and find some people who luv music as much as you and would luv to be in a band, I wish you all the luck in the world! I hope you make it to being a rock singer!!! OMG go rock on and if any one tells you you suck ignore it! they will regret saying that one day! Rock on!!! i hope you the best!!!! I hope some of what i said really helped cuz i really tried....and if i lived somewhere near you i would try to be your bassist to help you out some on trying to get a band together! I luv music!!!♥

U know one easy way to start writting lyrics for music, is to read the lyrics of other songs, especially the bands that r your influence. I dont make music, but I do write lyrics, n all song lyrics relate to the things goin on in your life n that of others. So just study the way the verses of the songs go, u know, 1 paragraph, a bridge, the chorus, n a 2 paragraph. Make the sentences short, its not a poem, so they dont need to rhyme.
Write about something u like, n you can use a dictionary to help u find words that relate to what u want to say in a more melodical way.

OK I'm the person you are looking for, but I'm not going to tell you what you want to hear though. You are the old age of 19! Get your a-s in school, and learn to play something. I'm a professional singer/songwriter/producer, and nothing came easy to me or anyone else in the business. You have all these want to's but don't seem to be pointed in any direction, other than wanting to be something. Look, if you want a glass of water bad enough, you will find a way to get it, right? Music is no different! If you REALLY want to become a singer, and work your way into writing, then you have got to get off your a-s and go do it man. Nothing will ever walk across the street and get you, you have to put forth the effort to go across the street to get it. Have Fun!

Why did you quit practicing? If you want to be anything, you have to work at it.
As for writing music, first you need to know how to read it. So your back to practicing again.
You can write lyrics easy, just jot down everything and anything that you think of. You can rearrange them later, and can add music later also. If you have ever wrote a poem, then you can write lyrics. So, work hard, think deep, and repeat daily, and you will get there.... Best of luck !!!

I play the guitar and sing. When I finally got serious about it. I took lessons. Here in Chicago there is a great school. The Old Time School of Folk Music. The guitar program is there specialty. You are in class with about 10 other people so you get used to playing with others. At the end of each class you perform as a class at graduation with all the other classes at all levels. So you get used to performing. All the teachers are in bands and have impressive resumes. So my suggestions is take lessons.
