Is it also common for one to not have any family and relatives in the U.S? What do you think of it? Do most people live with friends, family and relatives?? What do you think of those who don't? What if the person is female?

I am fine with that actually. But, I find it hard if you have to live with neighbours who don't think that that's fine or something ...

I am female and I love to live alone, yes I live in the US. There is nothing wrong with that at all, I have been doing it since 1993, you don't have to answer to anyone and you can go and come as you please.

There is no issue with a female living alone in the U.S. In fact, many males and females do spend a few years alone after college when they are starting a career and before they find a spouse. Some men or women live their whole lives alone and nobody thinks it is odd. Most people in the U.S. have other relatives in the country, but it is not uncommon for a young adult to move to a different city, even across the country from relatives, for his or her first job. Males and females who do stay in the parents' home after their very early twenties are considered lazy and looked down upon for not being able to take care of themselves. I understand this is very different from other cultures where a female often goes from her parents' home to her husband's home and never lives alone.

I don't know whether it is common or not. I don't live with friends nor family, I live alone. I have the worlds best neighbors. I feel safe with them around. I don't understand how or why would living alone be strange or something to even question? I came from a family of 6 and I always wanted to live alone without anyone interfering in my life. As a matter of fact I think everyone should live alone before getting married. It does the soul good.

i would like to have lived alone for awhile but my family started early. it was close once even if with my little girl. it felt great. very stronge & independent. Some people can do and some can't. i applaud both. might not make sense but i do. 1 can be completly independent only responality is to take care of 1self and don't break any major laws. the other they can rely on some support. but there are some people i don't give props to; that would be adults that are 100% dependent of others, ect. no job, cmplaining about how they can't find a job, lived with so long that they THINK they tell your kids what to do, so on, so on. you get it.

Women who can afford to live alone in the US and choose it. We are not as "provinchal" here...it is taken for granted that a woman could and would live along, by choice and perfectly happy. The neighbors have nothing to say about it...they are too busy out earning a living to care about the lady next door who lives alone.

I am a female and live alone, its the only way I keep sane. i think that it is more common in larger cities, in smaller areas people may tend to live with family and friends. And it may be more common that the professional worker lives alone in order to focus on work.

I've lived alone for 26 years & probably wouldn't be fit to live with any more! I rely on nobody for nothing! I have always been independent, although I was married for 20 years. The only other choice besides independence is dependence & I don't want to depend on anybody for anything!

It is very common. We all make life choices. Some people like living alone, others have no choice.
