I read that you should be able to see it Sunday @ around 3am or so. Someone sent me an email about this. Does anyone if this is true?

Mars Hoax Returns!!
It's a false e-mail, although some of it was true but happened 3 years ago.

"see it" ... as a fairly bright red pin-point of light

NOT as a disc like the moon

the "visual-diameter" of the Moon will be 73 times
bigger than the "visual-diameter" of Mars at the moment
of closest approach.

meaning that looking thru a 75x telescope will yield
a disc about the size of the moon as seen by the naked eye.

that much is true.

the visual picture will be rather unstable unless you have
an EXCELLENT tripod to hold your scope steady,
and the earth's atmosphere ... well, if you know enough about how to do astronomical observations, you already know everything I've said

peace,
aftboj

I had the same email, but heard the other day on the radio it was a hoax.
