I'm Spaniard and have weird eyes where I dont know if theyre too small or large. *yea I know, lol* but I always make sure to use both black eye liner and black mascara. You want to make the eyes "pop", yes this is the objective.

Bigger Eyes

Eyeliner is the magic wand for creating the illusion of bigger, more expressive eyes. Line the entire top lash line and extend the line slightly at the corners. You can also line the bottom of your eyes, but concentrate color only on the outer third and extend it slightly past the edge. (We're not talking Elizabeth Taylor in Cleopatra here.) A soft, smoky look will open your eyes more than a thin, hard line. Stick to dark, neutral colors with a hint of black for lining, as bright shades will only make them seem smaller.

Lashes can also be a great eye-opener. Curl them three times before applying mascara -- at the base, halfway up and at the tip -- to create a gentle, rounded curl. Fan out your lashes while applying mascara. Brush the inner third in toward your nose, the middle third straight out and the outer third toward your temples.

Contrary to popular belief, dark, dramatic eye shadow will not make your eyes stand out. In fact, it'll do just the opposite. If you have small eyes, keep it simple by using only light-colored shadows, and never wear more than two shades at once. Brush a subtle base color from lash to brow, and then use a slightly darker shade to create subtle definition in the crease.

I feel your pain. I have very small, almond shaped eyes. My husband loves them, but also picks on the fact that they look closed sometimes.
Anyway... I was watching "what not to wear" and they were doing up this woman with REALLY small eyes like mine. The make up artist said to use a light shade (cream or something) on the lid and right under the brow (really light though) then black liner on the upper inner lid (right at the lash line) then apply mascara to the upper lashes. While applying the mascara, start at the lid and wiggle back and forth a little to separate the lashes and go over them several times.

IT WORKS TOO!! It opens your eyes up so that they don't have a definite stopping point. Makes them brighter too!

I do my eyes like this every day now!

Good Luck!

from http://www.bobbibrowncosmetics.com/
about asian eyes:
Defining the brow adds strength to the face and is a great way for Asian women to enlarge the entire eye area. Learn detailed how-to's on defining brows with Eye Shadow and Natural Brow Shaper in All About Brows section.

Next, apply a base Eye Shadow from lash to brow, with the Eye Shader Brush. I recommend Bone for Asian women. Then apply a medium shade such as Sable, Toast, Vanilla, or Shell Eye Shadow or Beige Shimmer Wash Eye Shadow to the lower lid, from the lashline to the crease, using the Eye Shadow Brush.

Line the eye along the lashline with Eye Shadow in a darker shade like Mahogany, Rich Brown, Charcoal, or Smoke, using the Eye Liner Brush. I recommend finishing with 3 coats of Everything Mascara in Black, since Asian lashes are often sparse. For a more dramatic look, try Lash Glamour Lengthening Mascara in Smoke. If your lashes are extremely thin, apply a smoky powder liner with the Eye Liner Brush to create the appearance of thick lashes.

For fabulous eyes, brush a light shadow all over from lid to brow and a medium color from the lashline to three-fourths up. Line eye all the way around with a thick, smoky line, heavier on the upper than the lower lid. Make sure the line is smoky, not thin and hard. Avoid too-dark eye shadow colors that make the eye look smaller.

For long-lasting liner, use Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner applied with the Ultra Fine Eye Liner Brush to create soft to dramatic looks.

good luck!

Hey! I am a hair stylist and I have went to TONS of makeup classes, just because you use eyeliner doesn't mean you have to follow your lash line, use eyeshadow for your eyeliner it gives it a softer look. But when following your lash line, when getting closer to the corner of the eye...make the eye bigger by...bringing the shadow up, I thougth this sounded ignorant too, but it works!

Do not line your eyes...it makes them look like two piss holes in the snow (sounds awful but true) use very light colours and dab a bit of a white or prosty light pink in the inside corner to your eyes it makes them look wider and brighter. Also curl your lashes that adds to the effect

Easiest and most effective way is to go to a full service salon that has a makeup artist and have them teach you how to apply makeup. You can make your eyes appear larger in how you apply cosmetics.

use an eyelash curler to curl your top lashes, put eyeliner on your inner (outer is optional) eye area, and then use mascara.
light skin-use light or medium brown eyeliner
medium skin-use medium or dark brown eyeliner
dark skin-use dark brown or black eyeliner

adjust the colors with the color of you're eyes, i made this "chart" assuming that your eyes are brown.

always wear light shades of eyeshadows and liners instead of darker shades. this will open up your eye area dramatically. also, try some light pink or white eyeliner. sounds funky, but it works so well!

hope all is going well, take care!
