If your periods have always lasted a couple of weeks, then it may be normal for you.

If this is something that has developed over time, or even if you're tired of it (I sure would be), talk to your gynecologist. It may be a sign of fibroids or other medical problem that could be reversed.

If the first doctor doesn't offer good suggestions, find a new one. It took three doctors to finally figure out why my periods had gotten so heavy. And the winning doctor told me that it is not normal for your period to get heavier or longer before menopause.

Periods that last 2 weeks is to long regardless the age. As you enter menopause they should get farther apart and be shorter in duration. I doctor can perform a test that will tell you if you are approaching the change. Even if you aren't covered by insurance this test would be money well spent.
