Do you want to be self employed? Or do you want to have a business? There is a difference. A business can be bought and sold. Nobody - well almost nobody - wants to buy a job.
A service business has the advantage that you can start it with little or no money. But that's harder than it sounds. And the hours you set are not your own. Your customers will determine your hours.
Does manufacturing sound like an impossibility? It's not. And it depends on what you are trying to manufacture. At least one man became a millionaire making candles. But don't expect every candle maker to be a millionaire.
While manufacturing does require you to invest in some tools and some infrastructure, how much or how little you spend depends on what you manufacture. If it's a bar of soap? It probably won't be that much.
Manufacturing ALSO gives you true flexibility, in the sense that you can set your own hours. Your customers don't care if your product is made during normal business hours - or at midnight. It's all up to you - and whether you are a day person or a night person.
Somebody once told me: There are a thousand different ways to run a business. And all of them work! But NOT ALL OF THEM WORK FOR EVERYBODY.
Some additional advice.
Forget "get rich quick schemes". Don't do anything that somebody sent you in an email. The majority of unsolicited emails you get are either scams or hoaxes. The same thing goes for television adds, magazine adds, or something you heard on the radio. If it were THAT GOOD? They wouldn't need to sell it. People would be beating a path to their door.
Go to the library, and get some of your research from there. Or go to the book store and pick up some business books. And YES - DO USE THE INTERNET - but don't rely on it exclusively. There is a lot of information out there that never makes it to the internet.
Talk to some small business owners.
And above all . . . good luck!

Why don't you take some night classes while your husband, mother or friend watch your son. That way, by the time he starts school, you will have enough college credits to graduate and find a decent job,

Start off doing something productive and helpful for people without worrying about money. Make it something that makes you feel good. That will lead you to what you want to do and people and money will come to you no doubt.
