I don't know. They pretty much bombed the heck out of Afghanistan... a lot of innocent people were injured. That was more to get rid of the Taliban though.
But without intelligence sources 'on the ground' it was difficult for them to get an exact location on bin Laden. They hadn't had that friendly a relationship with Pakistan before 9/11, so I don't think they had many credible 'sources' of information on where bin Laden might be.
I think Bush tried very hard to get him... it would have been a political coup and would have boosted his ratings. His failure though was when he took the troops out of Afghanistan and focused on Iraq... that definitely detracted from the search for bin Laden.

Yes, the troops had him, but they were called off. Makes you wonder at least about the relationship between Bush and Bin Ladin's family. We know that there is very strong ties between the two families.

Well,
if you wonder if Bin Laden could have been caught then yes.
The Taliban agreed to hand over Bin Laden, in October of 2003.
To any country but the United states.
In regards to the too little troops, you are again correct. As it is known that CIA was there waiting for troops to block escape but the Donald Rumsfeld did not like taking orders from the CIA.

Yes he had the chance to get him...a few times so I am told and no, Bin Ladin wasn't considered the major threat in the beginning. It's a shame to see our president using his leadership to fight a battle his father lost to years ago.

They think that they had Bin Laden trapped at Tora Bora. But honestly I haven't seen any definitive evidence of this. Perhaps someone else can atest to the veracity of these claims.
However, President Clinton had a chance to get Bin Laden after the U.S. embassy bombings in Africa. The Sudan actually came to U.S. intelligience and offered Bin Laden but Clinton turned them down, instead he bombed a couple of places and called it a day. The media doesn't talk about this much though. Or much about the fact that as many as 50 people closely attached to Clinton died in mysterious circumstances during his presidency and during the White Water investigation.

You hit the nail on the head. After bombing northern Afganastan the military heads asked for more ground troops several times in order to penetrate the caves and mountains to find Bin Laden but they were refused and he slipped away across the border into Pakistan. Since the US cannot send troops into Pakistan we have no way to get him now. A missed opportunitiy for sure. In the meantime we're in this Fiasco in Iraq.

NOPE! fairly, you may element your finger at bill Clinton. lower back while he became into president, he became into surpassed Bin encumbered on a silver platter, in basic terms bill became into too busy enjoying golfing to end and sign the order. for constructive, Bin encumbered have been given away and concealed interior the hills of Afghanistan. That became into our ONE and in basic terms risk at a clean shot on Bin encumbered. As bill left workplace, he whispered into George's ear that Bin encumbered became right into a threat. Now because 911 Bush has spent a fortune bribing informants to seize Bin encumbered. inspite of the certainty that Bush has controlled to take out a number of Bin encumbered's suited hand adult men, we've by no ability gotten Bin encumbered himself. there became into another time that we in basic terms approximately had him, however the operation had to be aborted on the final minute, through fact of inadequate adult men. whats up! that is not precisely like a map quest adventure going after Bin encumbered. the guy is continuously shifting from one cave to a distinctive to circumvent seize. it would be like attempting to discover a needle in a haystack that became into being tossed around. for this reason, we are seeking for one guy interior the mountains of Afghanistan, form of impossible. So, my chum, that is not Bush that is a failure, yet fairly Clinton, who did no longer grab the 2nd, while he became into the president. all of us understand what Bush would do and all of us understand what Clinton did no longer do. My query to you is what would Obama do with Bin encumbered, if he had the possibility? no longer lots!
