B/c in USA they have their own "football", which everyone else calls American football, or sometimes rugby (although they aren't the same).
I don't know why they call the American version "football" b/c they don't just use their foot, they use hands, arms, feet, or whatever in the game.

I think that it's actually 'football soccer', but in the US, 'American Football' is more popular, hence you call 'soccer' for 'american soccer', and 'futball' for 'american football'.
