Aside from the obvious (ie pregnancy), this can occur when overall body fat drops below 4%, or during very stressful times.

Besides pregnancy, there are legitimate medical reasons why it could be happening if it is consistant. I would check with your dr. if your period is mia for over a month or if you are constantly irregular.

Stress can delay ovulation. So if you have an idea of when you ovulated (typically it would be approximately two weeks after your last period if you are every 28-30 days regularly), take a look at your calendar to see if maybe that was a particularly stressful time. Keep in mind though, that stress can only delay ovulation and not your period. If you ovulated your period will come less than 18 days after that unless you conceived.

aside from being pregnant. stress can cause a lack of periods. Also if your not pregnant you may require just a routine D&C to scrape the walls and lining of your uterus. Sometimes your uterus doesnt shed its lining like it should be causing your periods to become irregular or not at all. you should actually see a gyno and find out because it can lead to potential fertility problems and also lead to endometeriosis. Good luck.
