Almost everyone got it wrong so far...there is just one place in Arizona where native palm trees grow in the wild, and that is in the Kofa Mountains...Palm Canyon specifically. There are about three dozen washingtonian fan palms growing in a steep cleft on the west side of the mountains.

No. They are not native to Arizona. Arizona is mostly desert, and palm trees require a LOT of water. Most of the species of palm trees in Arizona were brought from Central and South America.

Palm trees are not native to the USA at all. The were brought here from the south pacific by Coronado in the 17th century. Since then they have migrated from Califrnia to Florida. Palm trees now grow like weeds here.

Not positive, but would guess that due to the constant arid atmosphere of the desert, they probably do not grow naturally there. Usually you will find that they mainly grow naturally along the southern coastal cities, where the beach is near and the temperature rarely if ever reaches freezng. They're tropical, you know.
But, Yucca cactus' grow naturally. All over the place!
