I have a 6 year old daughter that I am interested in getting into modeling and/or acting. I don't want to turn her into some pagent kid just maybe some local ad work or something. How do you find a good agency that isn't one of these places that says they want you to spends tons and tons of money to get started.

FYI...she has expressed interest in doing this herself, not me. Also, as I stated before, I am not interested in turning her into a JonBenet pagent kid

Look in the phone book or local agencies online. Any place demanding you to pay money is not an agencie, it's most likely a school or scouting company that gets you to pay them to find agencies for you(ie. model search america). If an agency sees potential in your child, they will pay YOU/your child, not the other way around. Unless they see incredible potential/talent with a home made portfolio, you're best to get a professional portfolio shoot done to get started (which is where it does get expensive.. up to $1000/photoshoot.. but photoshoots should be the only time you give anyone money in this business). Once you have build a good portfolio, start sending out samples to different agencies, with contact info, etc. so they can get back to you.
Good luck! Child modelling and acting are a great way to create self confidence at an early age.
P.S make sure this is something your daughter is excited to do, and you're not coaxing her into it for the money.

Also, forget what those people are saying about Jon Benet. First of all, she was involved in pageants, which attract perverted people/greedy parents to steal money from their child and then kill them, etc. etc. or whatever. Modelling and acting are completely different, and if you're a good parent you'll keep your daughter safe from harm anways.

Only if she wants to do this would I ever do this but this is me.
but this is your daughter so do the right thing by her respect her wishes. if she said no then that is your answer! No modeling/or acting if yes then fine, you know with all the news going around with the JonBenet case that is a touchy field and a lot of sites that say they are in for that are under fire and some are legal and others I am not so sure of. so if I was to make a choice I would have to go with talk to someone at walt disney in orlando Florida I would want any pictures going out on no internet I would talk to them on the internet and might get a place to send to a studio but not on the net!
try here to start and I wish you and your daughter luck!

Think about JonBenet before you do anything.

You're pathetic. Marching your kid around, trying to live out some fantasy of yours. Your child should be taken away and given to a loving family who will let her be a child.
