I see on here all the time whites today tell blacks to get over history and to forget about it. What is so special about blacks today or in the past they never wanted them to know. I read that blacks would be kill in some case for remembering their past. Today it seem whites get frustated when blacks discuss their history.

What is it that they didn't want them to know then or now?

There's nothing that they're hiding from us except for the fact that they are exactly the same as we are and are in fact no better or worse than we are. It's not that they get frustrated rather they get uncomfortable. This could be for many reasons. It may be that they are ashamed that their grandparents probably participated in segragation. They may be upset that they no longer hold any power over an entire race.

What the Europeans that colonized America did to African people and continued doing is so disgusting and horrifying as to be almost unspeakable (not to mention what they did to the indigenous people). The world as a whole was just emerging from some very primative ways of thinking. But they were hardly the first people who enslaved one another. World history shows that people had been enslaving people since long before anyone could write down the words describing it. The black diaspora was just on so much grander scale.

Hopefully, we can move beyond that way of thinking, learn from the mistakes of humans so far, and resolve to NOT do that or allow that to be done again.

Which brings up a question: What are we doing now as a culture, that is so accepted as okay as a global culture, that in 100 or 200 years, people will look back on and wonder how we could be so unenlightened?

I think maybe the white people feel a little guilty and thats why they get so upset. And where I live our schools have Black History month. I think this is very educational for our children of all ages and races. They need to know the truth whether anybody like it or not. Cause the truth is slavery really did take place ... thats reality. And there is nothing we can do to change that except remember the ones that was there.

i'll tell u what is special-- black culture is everywhere, and people are always copying what the black kids do in school, whether it's the new speech for slang or if it's for code so that no one outside whatever clique they hang with will know what they're talking about--- or the new style of clothing---

turn on the news now even the stupid newscasters are saying bling bling when u don't even hear the kids say it anymore.
everyone copies what black people do and what black people wear and there is no denying that.

the hip-hop and the rap music, the cool stuff as well as the gangsta stuff, now all the little suburban white kids are trying to get record deals by making rap and hip hop records.

all those white girls all of a sudden with strong voices singing
r and b?
there are 10 year old little girls in all the black churches that sing 20 times better than that stupid brittney spears and cristina aguilera, but no one will sign them because of their color.

butt implants? BUTT IMPLANTS --- who the hell is paying for a butt implant, and who are they trying to look like??
everyone knows where the nice juicy bubble butt came from, and it sure as hell didn't start with j-lo, i don't care if she is latina.
latinas and whites with that kind of butt naturally obviously have someone in the family tree with african genes in them, whether they want to admit it or not.

so now people are implanting their azzes, plumping their lips, who originally had those lips? black people.

everybody out there getting tanned darker, trying to look black, but if u are born black then no thats not okay.
how stupid is that?
well black must be beautiful cuz everyone and their momma is trying to look and sound like black people.
that's what is so special about black people.

Well I think is the same the "Holocaust" subject and Germans, Japanese and Chinese, Hispanics and Spanish people; they get tired of being reminded how wrong they were by being racist and hatred that existed then. This will always continue because it's our history. But forever reason all those things happened we are here to make it better.
It's still hard to be OK with the fact that Spain colonized my country and used our native indian to be slaves, and then after we almost got liberty then came Americans and took us as territory. But we have to continue with our lives or else those people died in vain.

My personal opinion (and experience) is that I'm tired of hearing about it. It seems that every time I turn around, someone's outside protesting or there's a news story or congress is trying to pass that or do this, or something else going on relating to slavery. I'm sure not all black people feel they're owed reparitions, but it's the ones who do feel this way (and have no problem telling any- and everyone about it) are who are causing the problems. Quite frankly, I'm sick of hearing about it. And really, who on here was alive and DIRECTLY AFFECTED by the 1960s? Did you actually sit in the back of the bus? Drink from a separate fountain? Have to use a separate toilet? Probably not. You're basing your whole way of thinking on a bunch of stories that have been handed down to you from your parents and grandparents.

I've noticed something: In my line of work, I work with mainly middle aged black and white people. It's these people who are courteous, well spoken, polite, treat people fairly, are hard working, etc., yet it's their CHILDREN, WHO WEREN'T EVEN ALIVE DURING THE 60s, who are the "trouble makers"...who are the ones who are rehashing ancient history. Why is this?

They want you to stop dwelling on the horrendous evils perpetrated by the white man. They don't want you to keep dragging that stuff up. They are trying to feel good about themselves and they are tired of you reminding them of how they stole you from your land after the stole the land from the natives.

You not 'poseda speak nuthin' bad 'bout da massa.

~Because of ignorance and fear....., blacks were looked down upon and treated with disrespect -SLAVERY-NO RIGHTS-BLACK MARKET-Just plain PREDJUSTICE. I'm not an expert but these are the things I hear from my black friends. Yeah, I get sick of hearing things over and over again like a broken record! Wouldn't you? Let by-gones be by-gones.~

People these days..I tell you..
You don't hear us going around telling them to get over their past..

Edit

Know why we don't go around telling people to forget their past, because we RESPECT them so much, but when it comes to our history they don't even give us a nod of RESPECT.
