I'm just recently curious about the race and the language. I haven't had the time to look it up and I'm into exploring cultures. I don't know if this is the right category though?

The first inhabitants Jamaica were the Arawaks Indians, not black people, they were taken from west africa to Jamaica to work as slaves. But first the Arawak Indians were there first then the Europeans took over, and treated them hbadly, basically making them almost extist. They were used as slaves, but the Europeans needed more labor work so they brought slaves from west africa for labor. There's more but that's most of the history.

The first inhabittants were the arowak indians then columbas landed on the island and personaly ruled the island for awhile. Later slaves would be censt there and it was ruled by the british. It would stay under british rule until sometime in the 1960s I think 1962 when it was given its indiependence.
