My 8 week old daughter is teething and won't stop crying and always wants the wet washcloth in her mouth. How do I get her to go to sleep? Without the tylenol and she's way too little for anything else. My son was 5-6 mnths when he started, boy I don't miss this.

See now thats the thing but she will only chew on the pacifier and then it falls out because she won't suck on it. Same thing with her bottle if I think she's hungry, she'll just suck on it. I don't like sticking my finger in her mouth cause thats just unsanitary and Im not trying to be rude Im sorry I appreciate all the answers I could get!

I'm mean she'll chew on her bottle instead of sucking on it sorry. She loves the washcloth but she won't sleep because she's uncomfortable.

No teeth yet but my son was teething for about 3 months before he got his first tooth. My niece got her first tooth at 4 months. So I don't know, it depends on the baby though I def. know its her gums though because of her actions in drooling, chewing, crying, putting hands in her mouth, and the simple clues.

Hi! My first daughter teethed at 2 months as well.... I discovered at Walmart.... they have some "teething tablets" they are 100% natural, and safe for all ages. they melt instantly, sometimes so quick its hard to get them in the mouth first!
You can find them in walmart in the same aisle as the cold medicine... they are about 7 dollars for a bottle, and are well worth it.... i discovered you can use them on yourself for canker sores!
They saved me, and save your sweet baby sp much pain.... just check with the pharmasist before you give them to her, to see how many to give... he can prob help you find them too.

oh yea... i don't reccomend orajel, have you tried the stuff? it stings before it numbs, there is so much alcohol in it. you don't want to do that to her... the tablets have no taste, and do not sting at all.

good luck.

you can actually use baby ojel. shes not to young for it just use a tiny bit cause you dont want to numb her throat or anything. but why not just let her have the washcloth, and maybe once she falls asleep remove the washcloth. And i have to add this old wives tale in that my mom has always told me and i never believed it until recently. She always told that if your child recieves its first tooth before a certain age that means your going to get pregnant very soon and i told her she was crazy well my son who is now 6 months old has has 4 teeth in his mouth and has 2 of them since he was about 5 or 6 wks old. she was so very right on that for once im 9 wks now be careful. I just figured id add a lil humor to your answer. Good luck with her teething though and just try a little bit of the baby orjel.

Hhhmmmm...do you think maybe its not teething and might be colic? Seems awful young to be teething. But i guess all kids are different. I used a warm compress on my son while i was rocking him......i would heat up a wet washcloth in microwave let it cool down to where it is safe then i would lay it up againt his cheeks...he loved it.....also you may want to try sitting in a rocker and laying her across your knees....rubbing her back...not really sure what else you can do...im not sure if you can use Orajel that young...mine are 4 and up now so its been a couple of years since ive been there.....Hope you find a solution soon....i remember the frustration of not knowing exactly why they are crying...LOL. Hope she gets to feeling better.

I suggest letting her have some baby teethers. If you call your physician he will tell you the same thing just dont use more thatn 4 times in 16 hours. I find that my daughter sleeps well if i put it on right before bed then give her a freezer theeting toy to gnaw on while trying to sleep.

Buy some teething toys that you can put in the fridge to cool them down. She will like to chew on these. Have you definitely seen the teeth though? It could be some other kind of illness.

Poor baby & mommy too! Try the baby Orajel. They have a nighttime formula too. Otherwise, a few more doses of the Tylenol wouldn't be the end of the world. Maybe try a smaller dose if you don't feel comfortable giving her very much. Best of luck!

I would conitnue to use the washcloth if that makes her happy. That's exactly what a doctor told me to use on my 3mnth old. Hey, at least you are getting this out of the way early!

a pacifier is helpful. You may also want to try teething tablets. They saved my life...and I got a little more sleep.

If you're sure she's teething, give her a frozen hockey puck -- no kidding. She can gnaw on it to her heart's content, and the cold will numb the gums.
