Depending on just how many raccoons you're talking about...and whether or not you can figure out a way to live with the raccoons.... Perhaps get one of those Have A Heart traps, and bait it. You'll have to call someone like your local animal shelter first, to find out where you might take the raccoon after you've trapped it. The Have A Heart traps won't hurt it, and they cost about $20 for one large enough to capture a raccoon. Oh yes, if you decide to get a trap, set it up in a place that won't be scorched by the sun or make the animal otherwise uncomfortable, and be sure to keep a diligent lookout to see if you've trapped anything. No sense in letting an animal be stressed out for longer than necessary. But be prepared to meet one unhappy raccoon if you trap him. Good luck!

MMMM mmmm nothing like grub fed rocky over the bbq!
And the grubs will kill your sod right quick and there goes dinner!
No food source- no raccoons.
Own a gun? Own a trap? Own a dog? Own a cat? Then you need to kill the grubs!
Might try sprinkling hot pepper seeds or hot sauce(works well on cats) to deter but you need grub killer or they'll eat your roots and your grass will be brown in patches.
Once sod 'rooted' your only problem will be the grubs and dying sod... you could roll out chicken wire and stake it down as the raccoons will eat whats best and easiest to get to...
Well I'm hungry and do own a gun so let me know if you need help as I have this amazing recipe and you'll swear it tastes just like... chicken?

I would have to agree with Gardennerd. Traps would be a feasible option at this point. Since you put down new sod, I would advise against putting down any grub killer applications to your lawn/new sod.

there is a granule you can apply that will kill the grubs. grubs are the larvae for beetles that appear in the spring/summer time. apply heavy. if you can apply under the sod it will work better. the granules if applied on the sod will not hurt it if you dont want to take the time to roll up the sod. home depot and lowes sell the grub killer. dont get it on you and apply with a spreader to avoid piles. hope this helps

Find a bunch of Cajuns. Point them at the raccoons and tell 'em, "They taste like chicken, the limit's 4, and the season expired last Tuesday." No more raccoons.
