I have two. They beginning to to get big enough to eat small minnows. They about 6 inches long I guess. I feed them all through the day. Before minnows I give them most anything I eat. Scrambled Eggs, Pork, Chicken, Tuna, Green Beans, Regular Beans. I not give them anything very hard, though they may be able to eat it. Now, I started them on minnows last week. I keep the minnows in a 5 gallon, no gravel and just an air bubble stone. They get 2-3 minnows each a day, Fish Pellets through the day and I always give them a little of what I eat from Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. If, they get hungry they slam the Cover to let me know they want a snack. The last Oscars I had, I buy about 2 dozen LARGE minnows and dump them with the Oscars and they eat as they want. Usually when they satisfied 1-2 Dozen minnows last about a week. Also, if you give them large Grasshoppers, I always removed the jumping legs.

ten feeders a day! dude, at the rate your going, id give it a week before he dies. oscars dont do well on a diet full of goldfish or meat. when i had mine, i fed them pellet foods which are readily available, cheap, very nutritious, and offered in a variety. and also, oscars are always hungry and begging for food, so dont give in to their whims. if u must feed him goldfish, do it as an occasional treat, maybe once a week. he'll really apreciate it. but hey, dont take my word for it, check out this site below:
