As you are probably well aware of, a 14 year old girl filed a lawsuit against myspace saying she was sexually assaulted by another user. She did so in late June, as any one heard any new news on the subject?

I don't know about this case. Some things to think about, many schools and libraries have computers. Her friends may as well. I don't think it's the fault of my space, however. Knowing teens, they will push the boundaries and break rules.

More parents should password lock the computers and keep them in an open area in the home - supervised use. Or use the software to track what their kids do online.

Teens will always take chances doing things that could be risky. I know I was a teenager once - but before personal computers were in most homes. We did other stuff, like go to parties, etc. and even hitchhiked - yeah we knew it was against our parents' rules but we always thought we knew better. Some of us just got lucky.

There is no way a service or company like MySpace can monitor all the teens in the world. It's really going to have to come down to the parents & teens themselves.

No, I hadn't heard about it. I don't blame her for what happened to her. But, where are her parents in all of this? What is a 14 year old doing on MySpace without parental supervision? With all the warnings about pedophiles stalking teens on sites like MySpace, why aren't the parents doing something about it? I thank God the Internet wasn't around when my sons were teens. But now I have to worry about my grandchildren!

The last I have heard was back in the middle of July and they said MySpace was not at fault. Her parents should have been monitering her better and since she was under 18 her profile should have set to private. If there is any newer news I have not heard about it.

Personally I think it should be state and federally controlled to keep minors from gaining access via fingerprints regardless of where they go. Adults should have the right to privacy as long as they are not convicts. We should be able to block any unwanted material from our computers. Maybe there should be a web site or Internet provider for just kids. No one gets access without security clearance. I can't believe that this lawsuit will go thru. 30 million dollars? Who's next ?

suing myspace because of a sexual assault is like suing playboy because of carpel tunnel syndrome. Anyway, on a serious note, the girl and her parent is completely at fault. Granted, it is a terrible event that happened to the girl, her parents should have been monitoring her internet activity better and she should have known not to meet people off of the internet.

If it is true, her case has no merit. If she met this user through mySpace, then she has no one to blame but herself for giving out personal information.

MySpace clearly suggests that any user under the age of 17 make their profile private, and makes clear to give out personal info in an intelligent manner.

What else would she expect if she messages him saying "OMGGG ur SOOOO cuteeeee!!!!!!!1!!!!!!1!!1!1!1 omfg heer's ly|{3 mi address, cell #, skool, n wen my parints wont bee homeeee!!!! LOL"

Makes me sick.

I searched Google News for "myspace" and got nothing. Maybe the judge came to his senses and dismissed the case, for reasons of stupidity on the girl and more importantly her parents' part.

if this is true its rediculous. If you dont want o talk to skeezy people then dont talk to them. It's not like she cant erase the comments, messages or block the guy. Why is it myspaces fault shes stupid? Where were her parents at when she was cruising the internet?

Never heard of that before but its her fault. She should know better then to meet with strangers she found on the internet.
