The last I heard about it some pregnancy tests could be done as early as the first day or two after a missed period.

Bear in mind that the first few days after an egg is fertilized it has some travelling to do before it reaches its place and implants itself in the wall of the uterus (and big hormone changes really start to happen).

the best time to test is when your period is atleast 2 days late. Get a First response. They can detect pregnancy really quick.

With a home pregnancy test, you can get a positive result as soon as the first day of your missed period. With a blood HCG (human chorionic gonadatropin) test, you can get results as soon as the first week of pregnancy.

the first time i became pregnant i was in my twenties, and i felt something so unique, different, "special" - it was only two days after lovemaking and i knew - my body felt different; it tingled in a way that just told me. and sure enough i missed my period less than two weeks following that event... i never ever missed my period. you could have set a clock to my monthly cycle.
the tests home tests confirmed it, i was pregnant!

I would think a week however there is so many new products on the market that may be able to help clear the matter up.

the best over the counter test says.. "five days before your first missed period".. unless you have a blood test done at the doctors.
