I was wondering if anyone else thinks the Disney themeparks are overrated? If you do, are there other themeparks you like better?

Siege, just so you know, we very seldom go for movies and then don't buy all the popcorn and pop. We also have never gone skiing due to the price. Personally, I'll take Michigan Adventure or Cedar Point any day, but definitely liked Universal Studios a lot better when we last visited Orlando six years ago.

Hello Searcher,

I fully understand and appreciate what you are doing. Since you clearified it for me it it easy to see where I was mistaken. When my wife and I were first married we were both making about 8.00 per hour and with the two paychecks it was hard.
We bought the smallest of homes and it was still double the price of renting an apartment. But that was our choice. We waited two years before we even decided to have children. Our first thought was to wait until we could afford them and we relaized that we would be 45 before that ever came about. So we went ahead thinking we will make it.
If we didn't have our mothers filling in as day care we would have been eating beans and rice everyday.

It "in my mind" is not the economy that is the problem. It is the excessive greed at the top level of business.
The executives in companies are raping the workers and laughing about it.
For example, Michael Eisner from Disney, his base pay is 1 million dollars per year, and he has all the percs you can get. Stock, company car with gas credit card, expense account, bonus', The best health care coverage, and a whole lot more.

The Disney workers, struggle and many of them have been laid off in the past few years. A lot of them retirees who are in need of a medical plan and prescription coverage.
So when you see a company with a lot of executives like Disney you really have to wonder why they are able to get away with this as it is clearly on the fence line of corporate theft.

I am glad to see that you are standing up against the injustices of this blight and I wish you all the luck and success

Sincerely
Jerry

PS, I do like Disney better than the rest.

YeP! WAAY overrated! Went to Orlando for a week. Nothing but rude people and retarded shops, same boring rides and they were breaking down every hour or so. Then on top of that the rides were lousy i will take Six Flags over Disney any day. At least then i can enjoy other things i enjoy! Don't get me wrong the fireworks and characters were cool but the rides made me snooze. Three hours for a ride that lasts 1 minute 30 seconds and wasnt thrilling at all, kinda lame,

Do you ski? How much is a lift ticket now? How many hours do you actually ski? What else is there to do but ski?

Does anyone stop to realize just how much entertainment there is packed into that Disneyland ticket? They are usually open more than 12 yrs a day, there is ton's of stuff to do.

When you take your family to the movies at night, and buy everyone a hotdog, soda, popcorn and candy for a 2 hr movie, do you stop to realize that a ticket to Disneyland doesn't cost that much more for an entire day's worth of fun?

Sorry if I sound bitter, but I worked there, I made great money, I loved my job, and had full benefits (not HMO either) I would not have quit if I wouldn't have moved too far to drive. And I miss it very much!

Of course they are overrated, but someone has to be top dog. So far, Disney is it. If I must visit an amusement park, Carowinds on the North Carolina/ South Carolina border can be fun. All parks become mundane and repetitive after two hours or so. Mad heat, tired feet, screaming moms, crying kids, angry dads, expensive sodas, wet shorts, lame-*** shows, dumb-*** prizes and ride lines that stretch from your front door and back can be found from Anytown USA to Whereverville Europe. Save yourself the trouble, rollerblade around your neighborhood, eat a popsicle, run through some sprinklers, chug a coke, come home hug a giant teddy bear and call it a day.

Heck no.
They Disney parks are awesome and have never gotten old for me. Last year I probably went to Disnyland over 30 times and never got tired of it.

As much as I dreamed about going there as a child, but never having gone and probably never will at this point, I can't give an intelligent answer.
