The idea behind most of these is thermodynamic nonsense. First, it takes energy from the motor to make hydrogen. Then it puts the hydrogen back into the motor. Well, you can't get more energy back than it took to make the hydrogen, and because none of the steps are perfectly efficient, you'll lose some of the energy at every point.
The only way this could actually work would be if you generated the hydrogen through regenerative braking. I do not know of any systems on the market actually designed to do this.
