I HATE THE DEPO SHOT!
I bled (well spotted ) for a year straight!!!!! I was told it was normal too but I sought another opinion. Another doctor put me on a different form of birth control and it stopped it.
I am sorry that you have been going through this and I totally feel your pain!!! *sniff sniff*

~It's "normal". HUH! I went through the same crap! I hated the depo shot! I would bleed all the time if I didn't keep taking it! I had a lot of complications! It triggered or weakened something in my reproductive area and gave me ovarian cancer. I now have 1 ovary with scar tissue. I don't know all the facts on what exactly happened but I do know that my doctor mysteriously changed my birth control to Ortha-Evra and that's doing alright so far! The depo shot is not for everyone! Try something else!~

i became on Depo for 5 years. as quickly as I first began it, I had somewhat short sessions (2 or 3 days) that have been somewhat mild. After the third shot, i ended bleeding altogether. i desperate to change to the pill, and the 1st couple of cycles have been heavy, and the cramps have been terrible. proper to the time i became due for the subsequent shot (if I have been going to get it) I have been given pregnant. My husband and that i on no account used condoms or spermicide jointly as i became on the shot in the time of the 5 years. I believe the shot extra so than the pill. i began out on the shot back when I had my son, I easily have been having mild sessions that final for some days, basically like until now. i've got no longer had any problems with the shot, yet it somewhat is basically me.

If I were you I would find a new doctor. I don't think it is normal to bleed that long. In fact this is the first time I have heard of this. By the way what is a depo shot?

Hey. The depo will mess with your cycle...but I would go get a second opinion, because all that loss of blood could affect your iron levels as well! I would go buy some iron tablets ASAP!!! Sometimes patients will bleed right before their shot is coming due, and this is normal. Also, going off of the depo, your Dr. should have advised you that this is one of the side effects...but..I would go get another opinion. This doesnt sound right to me.Good luck sweety

Normal, there is 2% chance that would happen. You should have researched it before you got it!
When side effects such as bloating and irregular menstruation occur, the Dr. sometimes prescribes either one month of oral contraceptives or a hormone usually used for menopausal HRT which usually are effective at relieving the side effects. Dr. said that women who continue the Depo-Provera injections for 2 or 3 series (6 or 9 months) usually cease experiencing side effects.

see a different doctor. I had the same shot and got off cause I didn't like what it did to me. I would say my system straightened out in about two months, but if there is anyone out there considering the shot, I would ask you to reconsider. It has a lot of side affects, it made me very emtional and messed up my cycle and my sex drive has not been the same sense.

I was on depot for 9 years and never had a period! I definitely think you should be back to "normal" When I got off it came back within 4 months. Please get a second opinion. They have ways to make it stop. Good luck!

You should definatly go and see a different doctor. My niece did that and it caused her problems. You should not be bleeding that much. It could cause your lining to go to thin where you will be unable to have any more children. I have been through many of these problems myself. I hope I have helped some. E-Mail me if you have questions.

Why ask do you need a second opinion? Apparently you already know that it isn't normal. I would for safety purposes see another OB/GYN but not in the same area.
