I am amazed that hamsters are considered a pet. They seem worthless to me. Do you all live in citys with no yards? Are you too poor to get a cat or dog?

They are cute! And great as first time pets! Cats and dogs should be reserve for later, when you are sure you can handle very active pets. Hamsters can play with you anytime they are awake, or they can entertaint themselves well enough

I don't have a hamster but i'd like to have one just for the hack of it...

I don't have a hamster. never had one never plan to have one. on the other hand, I have 2 cats and a dog. I luvvvvvvvvv them sooooooo much!!!!! I agree with you. I don't care for hamsters. if you really truly don't want to own a cat or dog, then adopt a rabbit. they're awsome!!!!

I have had like 11 hamsters in all my life that Ive counted! They are so cute and fun to play with, there not worthless to me, there Gods Creation!

LOL I think some people on here are going to get mad at you for bashing their hammies!! LOL I agree with you, sort of. I really don't like hamsters, don't want a pet that thinks it's okay to poop on me!! If you gotta have a rodent pet, go for a rat! Way smarter, and they don't use you as a toilet!!

I doubt that it is a matter of poverty. Hamsters are small and generally confined to a cage. That makes them easy to care for.
