I've been bleeding for 43 days. I posted a question similar to this when it was only 20 something days I was bleeding. Anyway, almost every day for the past 43 days I've been bleeding. I went to the emergency room and the referral they gave me finally gave me an appointment for next week. I'm still worried though, what if them taking so long screwed things up? I'm in pain right now, and I'm tired most of the time. Does anybody know what could make you bleed like that for so long? Having periods is bad enough, so you can imagine how I feel right about now. I really hope this hasn't screwed up my chances for having kids. Ok, thanks for reading this, I just needed to get it out, I'm just kinda stressed right now. Anybody who thinks they know what this is, please speak up.

Thanks for so many answers =) and not as many smart asses as I thought there would be, that's always nice. Anyway, it's not like I'm bleeding a lot every day, sometimes it's a lot and sometimes it's just a little and sometimes it's almost nothing. It's just really weird. And I'm not on birth control, I'm trying to have kids.

When I went to the hospital they did do bloodwork and a pelvic exam. I don't have a regualr gyno or doctor because I have no insurance (or money for insurance). So this has all been through a county hospital. But yeah, all they gave me was a referral, and it took two weeks after I called the referral for them to even give me an appointment.

you poor thing! :0( I have seen a few people go through that. One had tumors on her ovaries and they tumors were surgically removed, but she is still able to have children with no problem. Another friend bled like that and she was put on birth control and another had to have a hysterectomy. You are very tired because when you lose blood you lose iron. I would try to get in to a doctor sooner than what you are scheduled.

I am sorry to hear that you are going through this I can almost feel your misery.
You take care. You poor thing. Take it easy.

In the E.R they should of done lab work if they didn't. If they did, then it must have not been bad enough(emergency) for them to intervene at the moment. Did they do a pelvic exam? Ultrasound? Preg. test? Did pain start when bleeding started?Does the pain feel like menstrual cramps? Do you have insurance?( That may be why they didn't do more for you.) Do you have a Gyn? Why do you need a referral anyway? (Most insurances don't need it for a Gyn).Seems I'm asking a lot of questions but need more info. to give a educated guess.A problem with your uterus such as fibroids could be a reason for the bleeding. Hormone problems as well as pregnancy could also be a possibility. The doc. may start you on 'the pill' to help get you regulated after he rules out everything else.Good luck and if bleeding or pain gets worse then DONT WAIT anymore! I would call the gyn. on Mon. and tell them you cant wait till your appt. If you get worse over the weekend then go back to the ER asap. By the way(, depending on your age,) why aren't you already seeing a gyn. for regular yearly visits. They could of addressed this issue a lot earlier. Don't stress, that wont help anything. I know, easier said than done. I don't believe this 'screwed' up your chances of having kids either.Good luck!

My niece just had the same problem you need to get back to the hospital go to a different hospital if they dont do anything. You could hemorrage and die from bleeding so much don't mean to scare you but this is serious. my niece was having a miscarriage and they kept sending her home saying they did not know what was wrong. she kept going back till they finally told her why she was bleeding so much her whole entire bed sheet was covered in blood for two days before they saw what was wrong so go back as soon as possible girl im tellin you for your own good it could jeopordize your chances of having children.

Endometriosis is the first thing that comes to mind. I cant believe in the ER they didn't run blood test for anemia or do anything then a referral, that's just...UNREAL. Link below gives alot of information on vaginal bleeding. Don't know if it will help, or just worry you more.

I had the same happen to me over 25 years ago, ask you gyno to check you for tubular pregnancy and cysts on your ovaries as I had both and almost died, my cyst ruptured and all that poison from the cyst was working though my body. The doctor told me I had 2 heart attacks on the operating table. I ended up being in the hospital for 6 weeks. So, please go back to the doctors and ask them to test you.

you might be a victim of menorrhagia , you should see you doctor quickly, you will have to under go many test, ultrasounds and pap smears.

if that is not the case you may be suffering from stress, or if on birthcontrol that may be causing the bleeding also.

i suggest for now you eat healthy and properly until your appoint, so that you do not become enemic.

I went through a similar situation. If you just show up at the doctor's office, they will see you. There is a medication that they can give that will stop the bleeding.

Why haven't you gone to a doctor already? you should not be waiting til next week. Surely you can find a doctor who will see you like NOW. Go to a walk-in clinic.......if you have them where you live. If not get your-self to a doctor as I said NOW.

well relax and take it easy and of course keep yourself replenished in minerals.. take in vitamin c and eat things high in potassium.

try to avoid activity for now.

keep that appointment, you may have fibriods or something else which is curable. you may be shedding trying to flush out the fibroids or another growth that may be benine.

relaxing is the best thing you can do along with seeing a professional.
