Only the mainstream stuff is like that. If you listen to the artists that haven't been overtaken by the huge companies that could care less about the band, and more about making money, you will hear some better music. Although, I don't think that all artists on the radio are untalented, just uncreative. Listen to Mariah Carey, Jessica Simpson, and even Shakira. All of those women have great voices, it's just that it's all the same stuff.

I don't know
Why does everyone I know likes Rihanna, while I don't?
Why do I like bands and singers like are a lot different than the stuff played on a hit music station???
Why would anybody ever buy a Coldplay or James Blunt cd???
I don't know!!!
Not everything today is crap...theres Three Days Grace, System of a Down, and a lot of other stuff. Rap is NOT crap either. There are a few good rappers, I like Eminem, and Tupac is good also. To you, this music is crap. To me, if you turn on the "hit" music station, most likely you'll hear crap like Shakira, Neyo, Pussycat Dolls, Mariah Carey, Justin Timberlake, Jessica Simpson, Paris Hilton, and there are a LOT more.

My Mother used to say the same thing waaay back when I was growing up and listening to what is now called classic rock. Her favorites were from the 40's and 50's. Every generation goes thru the same thing. That being said, I agree! Today's music can be quite annoying and certainly doesn't stand up to the music of the 60's and 70's. Thats my opinion.

Hell Im 45. I grew up with the 60's 70's and some 80's music and that was my time and my type of music. But I also listened to my parents type of music also from the 50's to old country classics. I would not even attemp to listen to what they have out these days. Of course thats by my choice. Its the in thing now. I am the old fogy now a days!!!! (lol)!!

Wow, for an 18 year old you sure sound like an old fart. Some of the other posts are that way, too. And don't say you're different, because you're not.
You're either a snob because you think your music is better than everyone else's, or you a boring old stick in the mud who should be driving an Oldsmobile.

The only thing I can say is when I was 18 my parents didn't like the music I listened to. Now my friends have kids that are teenagers and I don't like alot of the music they listen to. To me it doesn't seem like there's any sing along type music released now a days, I was always singing along when I was a kid , and now. lol . Just my opinion, because I know they sing along, but I can't understand a word that's being said.

I totally agree. I don't know why young people listen to all of this garbage out now. What I don't understand is why young people don't realize how much control they have over the music industry. If they demanded more from singers and entertainers, they'd get more. As long as they accept the, "Shoulder Lean", "Lean Wit it Rock Wit it", or "The Whisper Song"...then that's the garbage the world will keep getting.

Pop music isnt very good these days bands and artists seem unimaginative and uninspired. Its based more on looks and making money
However, if you listen to some music out of the mainstream like wilco, bo-deans, sonic youth, bright eyes, whisleytown, iron and wine, ray lamontage, damien rice, tres chicas, and lucinda williams you will get more passion and talent.

today's young people have burst ear drums.
boy, do you have an old heart in a young body. You must have studied music or just love old people. HA!
I have always been a lover of all music but the nasty stuff screaming about killing and hurting.
But i must admit i am particularly fond of the classics.
Keep up the good listening.
