Suffer.

Just like I'm doing.

Why should you get to feel better than me?

I never used any medications with my daughter. When she has a cold I give her a vapor bath (has to be at least 3 months old which your son is), then I would cover her chest and back with vicks baby rub and I would use a humidifier near her head. I recently bought a Vicks Warm steam humidifier with Vicks vapor for a little over 20 dollars and we love it! IN the past I used a normal humidifier and it worked pretty well. Good luck it should only last a couple of days and things will get back to normal. If you do this in the evening you should get a full nights rest though!

If you don't have some sort or secondary bacterial infection then you might find that tilting your head back and irrigating liberally the nasal passages with salt water helpful. The saline irrigation will help clear the phlegm that drips into the back of the throat that makes you cough - post nasal drip. Also the saline solution helps heal the lining of the nose.

For this the following medicines can be taken:

Acetaminophen, such as Tylenol or Panadol
Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs):
Ibuprofen, such as Advil or Motrin
Naproxen, such as Aleve or Naprosyn
Ketoprofen, such as Actron or Orudis
Aspirin (also a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug)

For immediate relief you can take hot tea with ginger as often as required.

But the best medicine is taking couple of clove of raw garlic every day. It will taste very hot, but certainly cure your cough in long run if you take regularly

Soak almonds overnight. Remove their skin. Make a paste of these almonds with little butter and sugar. Very useful for a dry cough.

Hot tea with lemon and raspberry jam, drink as much as possible
Drink hot milk with honey at bedtime for cough relief

For Back
Combine 3 tbs. lemon juice, 1 cup honey, and 1/4 cup warm water. Take 1-2 tbs. as needed

Ginger tea or a teaspoonful of ginger juice taken with equal quantity of honey brings relief from common cold

Breath right strips, help dries out the sinus- this is what makes you cough, the nasal drip down your throat-but a hacking cough is also a sign of TB

Hot water with ginger and honey in it helps...but if it last too long you may need to take a course of antibiotics

The sauna works great! Also if you regularly, you'll find you'll get a cold less often!
