With relationships probably not unless your just a scum bag looking for your next screw. My ex husband is like that....with me and his kids.
With other things like your fave t-shirt or something small like lip gloss if you lose it on the other side of your computer desk and dont find it until you clean and then go "oh yea! thats where that went!" then yes it would work.
With kids it most definitly works because they forget about it....at least the ones that are not all that smart do anyway. Smart kids remember what their parents say and where they put that damn toy and when you said they could have it back.

It would all depend...If your relationship is strong to begin with out of sight maybe but never out of mind.

Only for children looking for toys and dogs looking for a ball....short attention spans. Not so true when it comes to adults and loved ones. If it's love, they are always on your mind.
