I am 9 weeks pregnant today. i did the home test at my 4th week of pregnancy and at that time there were 2 sharp lines. after that i went to the doctor and she confirmed that by sonography. later she observed tha heart beat too. but today i did the home pregnancy test again just for confirmation. But there was one sharp line and one light line( which was sharp in my last test time). So what is this? The HCG level is reduced or what? are the hormones set according to the body or why not the sharp line? please response if u know.

The home tests detect the amount of hormone in your urine. If you've had a lot to drink and your urine is diluted, the line will be more faint. If there's any kind of line, it doesn't matter how faint it is, you are pregnant. All a faint line means is that your urine was diluted, therefore not as much hormone in it.

Tests can vary. As long as there were two lines you are pregnant. I always buy the tests from the dollar store. In one day I took three test to make sure I was really pregnant and two had darker lines while the other test had a very faint line. I am 25 weeks pregnant and I bet if I did it now the same thing would happen. If you are really that concerned you could call the nurse at the ob/gyn or your midwife and ask about it, but I am sure they would give you the same advice. ~Blessings~

It could also be because you had drank a lot of liquid prior to taking the test, or it wasn't the first time you urinated that morning. If you urinate really late at night, it'll also affect your first morning's sample.

Odd how you took a test after confirmation of pregnancy. I've never heard of someone taking a test, when they obviously already knew.

Any line is a positive. Only a blood test can tell you what your actual HCG level is.

if you are worried about your baby i would go to my doctor and talk to them about my concerns which it sounds like your a new parent..if you are you shouldn't be so easily scared you should enjoy this time of a life growing inside..but if you really need to just ask if they can check to see if the baby is OK and alot of times they will check heartbeat, sonogram or something to ease your mind

if there is any line at all, then you are pregnant,no matter how faint it may be, read the pamphlet that came with the test.
