Yes, you are correct.
Pouring water into acid creates a violent reaction that often results in splashing of the acid and should be avoided.
Remember the mnemonic device: AAA = Always Add Acid

The reason you pour acid into water and not the other way around is in case of a violent reaction. Acids obtain their acidic properties from being in water, so combining the two can potentially cause a dangerous reaction. If this occurs, it is much better to have a large volume of water, the non-corrosive agent, and a small volume of acid, the dangerous one, instead of the other way around. This will both limit the extent of the reaction as well as be less concentrated if the mixture splashes out of the container (from either a reaction, or from pouring).
Hope this helps.

the acid is more dense(heaver) than water so it will go underwater. and when you add acid to water the reaction produces a lot of heat. if you pour water in to acid the heat causes the water to boil and it will splash up with some of the acid and might hurt your face. but if you add acid to the water( you must to so slowly) since the water is more than acid and the acid goes underwater, the heat will be controllable. so you are right but you must pour acid in small partitions and don't let the heat to go to high.

yes you are right, a small amount of water poured into acid would "boil" immediately and splatter you with acid.

Don't do either...
but if you have to, pour acid into water, as it's less liable to explode, and it's MUCH Less concentrated in volume

Well yes, because you don't want acid to boil over. If Water boils over it isn't such a big deal.
