Yes I believe in spanking. My mother was born and raised southern and raised me southern. I got the belt across the butt and even had a switch across my legs a couple of times. I learned about consequences this way. My children do get spanked and disciplined but it is hard to do in public because people act like your beating them if you smack their hands from touching things you can't afford for them to break. I also want to make sure I state that BEATING a child is UNACCEPTABLE. You never hit when your angry and there is a proper way to spank a child. You don't grab them by the arm and just start swinging anywhere. A firm smack on the butt when they are over "Your checkered apron" so my mom would say works better than taking the chance of pulling their arm out of socket, injuring their precious little backs, are knocking them into something and knocking them out. If you have broken a child's bone by spanking or bruised them badly then you are doing it wrong! Having a little red bottom never hurt anyone and it lets them know that there are consequences to our actions and you don't want the consequences so just don't do it!

I was spanked as a child by my grandmother, if you want to call them spankings. I and glad that it happen because I learned discipline as well as respect for authority.
When I was in school it was also normal for the principal or teacher to spank you also. I can only remember getting one spanking in school. I was more afraid of getting another at home by my grandmother than the teacher or principal spanking.
Well the spankings made me think about spanking my children, and at a very young age I made up my mind not to spank my children under any circumstance.
I might not agree with the spanking part but there must be some type of cause and effect. If the child does something that is not allowed there must be an effect for that. punishment, swat, take away a play toy or do something that the child understand they are not allowed to do this and mom and dad disapprove.
All adults should be given respect and not called by their first name, but addressed as mr or Mrs or ms. They must also understand they must be productive citizens as well as respect authority and those in authority.
I hope this has been of some use to you, good luck.

I totally agree. I was spanked as a child and am glad. If anything, I should have been spanked even more. Spanking is a truly exceptional and effective form of discipline. It should be used in all homes and restored in the schools. It should be considered OK to spank in public. We are already seeing the effects of a mostly unspanked generation and it's a not a good thing.

Using "spank" and "naughty" in the same sentence today will draw stares.
But, anyway, I got spankings as a child. I think it does instill one with the understanding that if one does something wrong, there will be consequence --which usually ends *wink* in physical and emotional discomfort.

I agree totally. I got into trouble even when my siblings didn't behave. So i made sure i was a good girl. My kids are disciplined kids and everywhere i go people tell me, "Oh you kids are so well behaved", and my kids look at other kids while they're acting up like, "What is wrong with them" while they are acting fools. I explain things and why they shouldn't do certain things and i think they understand better why they should be good. Honesty is also very good.

Someone I know called the cops on me once for spanking. As it turned out one of the officers was a female that loved spanking. It was a good day for a spanking too. Who's your Daddy?

I mom spanked me and my brothers real good when we were younger. I still dont agree with it and would never spank my children that way. The most I would do to my kids is a little slap on the hand or butt. But nothing to physically hurt them.

My parents spanked me when I acted up, I think a child should be spanked, not to the point of bruising but, I think just enough to hurt their feelings, that they won't want to do it again, Kids today get by with too many slap on the wrists.

my being spanked had a negative effect on me. most of the times i was spanked was because i was deliberately acting out...but why was i acting out? my authority figures never took the time to listen to me and get to the root of my problems..they just spanked. this caused me to get very angry and resentful towards authority..then leading to not respecting authority at all..ultimately leading to a lot of my adolescent transgressions. but, i was a f-d up kid. maybe when you give "normal kids" spankings it instills fear of authority and creates law abidding citizens. all i know is it didn't work for me.

Children nowadays have no responsibility and no respect and do not have a clue of what work is!! Why u may ask. It's easy. Alot of us just "don't want our kids to grow up the way we did" so we make it just as easy for them without the "struggle" because we feel that's what we are supposed to do.
