i don't know and i don't understand, my sister is a compulsive liar
it doesn't effect me (she lives out west) but it does effect my mother, she believes everything my sister tells her and my sister upsets my mother so bad (my mother is elderly and should not have to worry like this) AND my mother gets mad at me for not believing my sister i don't think my sister could tell the truth if her life depended on it

Yes, and it makes no sense but I've observed it. They also lie when it is not in their interest to do so, although that is almost always the case.
Lying makes about as much sense as trying to hold a cork under water by pouring water on top of it. The truth is concealed only as long as the lies continue to flow, then it bobs right back up.

For attention. Some people are just so used to lying that that's all they know. Alot of drug addicts do that. After a while they don't know a lie from the truth.

well the person telling the lie has a purpose and it's to cover the truth... its the person that is being lied to and also knows the truth that it has no purpose to... meaning it has no purpose only if the person being lied to knows the truth or can later know the truth

the only reason i lie is because it comes easy to me. but sometimes i dont realize it. becuase it becomes a habit. i think its addictive
but then again it depends on what your lying about. i lie about little things but im very sarcastic. but something that is needed to be said then the honesty comes out. then most people take my honesty for rudeness. maybe its a personal issue

All the times I have lied was to not get in trouble or to not hurt someones feelings. No one can say they never lied before. Everyone has lied at some point in their life
