Everyone gets older - it is just part of the cycle of life. When anyone gets old they cannot do the same things that they did when they were younger regardless of their sexual orientation or preferences. Then again, I do not really care to do all the things now that I did when I was younger either. It is silly to be afraid of growing old - it is going to happen whether we fear it or not and it is much better than the alternative!

The fear of getting old is not there for me. There already has been a life review of sorts, with some regret, then acceptance and I've moved on. What sustains me and makes me feel better about myself is knowing that a good number of the people whose straight lives I once admired so much were (or are) actually gay or bi themselves. With age comes wisdom and acceptance not only of one's own sexuality but of others as well. You have to remember something too: although important, sexuality is only one aspect of one's total life. It's the total picture of the person you have to focus on, not just one aspect of himself or herself. At a funeral of a gay or bi person, there's no intense emphasis on his or her orientation.

No, I'm not afraid of getting old (it's far better than the alternative). I already can't do some things I used to be able to do, but I still enjoy the things I can do. Nobody likes the physical effects of aging, but everyone gets them -you just do the best you can & keep living.

when I was young I was afraid of getting older..and then AIDs happened and so many of my friends died..that I began to fear death a lot less...My partner and I--yes we're a little bit afraid of what will happen to us if we have to go into a home...but up until now ages 57 and 60...life has gotten better and better with each passing year....one realizes that one's looks aren't going to last--and I don't want artificial work done on my face...this is the face I was born to have...each wrinkle I worked for..trust me I worked hard for them...and you know the really neat part..is that my friends don't look any older to me today than they did 40 years ago.

Yes, but I'm used to being afraid because I've had a couple of operations and close calls.
So I have to take care of myself to have any future at all. But these concerns make life more valuable to me and brighter.

I am already 54 years old and gay. I surprised even myself late last year on a trip abroad. I had more life in me than I thought. And I appreciate it and cherish it more than when I was young. Need I say more?

I'm not afraid of my age, I'm 41.... I think with age, I've become
better at picking out the right people. Don't have to worry about
all that youth BS that goes along with it.
Be yourself. Know yourself, lastly RESPECT yourself.
