it could be that the person who said this to you is reminded of past loves, maybe a partner or partners who affected that person deeply, and the similarity between you and the person who caused the hurt is brought back every time he/she sees you or interacts with you.

Okay I don't know where it's from but I'll give it a try. The person saying it was hurt by the person who it was said to. The person saying it either wants to hurt the person or is into being hurt by the person. It all depends on who is looking at it. I mean it could also mean that the person thinks the pain is worth experiencing to be with the other person. It all depends on the situation, and environment it is said in.

sounds like this person has been hurt so many times that ANY relationship seems to bring them pain. Each relationship is compared to the last. Sounds very sad and almost like a vicious cycle that needs to be broken. .

Meaning you are hurt by someone that broke your heart. You realize that relationships are not the best at times. You feel pain around him because the emotional feeling that hurting feeling just can't take it.

It sounds to me like you might remind him of a bad event in his life, or an ex lover. If I were you I would either be insulted or scared, without more details I can't judge but you don't sound like you deserve to be told that you remind someone only of pain, run away fast and don't look back.

I would take it as who ever the quotee is does nothing but make the quoter think of bad past relationships. It's kind of like the Usher song where he guy can't date the one girl because she reminds him of a girl that he once knew.

Wow! Apparently "you" is the crowning glory of painful relationships. Whoever "you" is, the author is not paying "you" any compliments, quite the contrary.
I think the author is saying that he's had several relationships that have left him heartbroken and that this last relationship is the most painful, thus when he looks at her she reminds him of pain.

the grammar is incorrect and so is the use of words, but essentially it means that being with you (whomever the quote is intended for), i have realises how i have always chosen the wrong person that has hurt my. i have a track record of letting people hurt me. you made me realise this and now when i think of you i think of my past pain.
