it seems once he made boomerang, (I think that was the name), his movies just weren't the same anymore. I miss the ones like Coming to America and The Golden Child.

Perhaps the better question is "why were his movies so good before 1996?" My theory is that Murphy sold his soul to the devil in Jr. High, and the Prince of Darkness granted him his early success. Unfortunately due to a contract loophole the devil was able to trade Eddie's soul to Al Gore in the 90s (little known fact that Gore has a fairly large soul collection). No one knows what the devil got from Gore in this exchange, but we do know that he was pissed about the exchange and tampered with the 2000 election to get revenge.
Of course Gore has been too busy inventing the Internet and making movies about global warming to give Eddie Murphy's soul the attention it deserves, resulting in a long string of really terrible films.

Because he became too full of himself. Some comedians start to think anything they do is funny or interesting - NOT! The quality of his films just totally went down hill and Eddie should be slapped for that Haunted Mansion disney crappola. I did like his cartoon character in Shrek/2, but other than that I'd rather watch re-runs of his scenes on Saturday Night Live.

sorry Eddie, ya just ain't got it no mo!

His jokes did him in. The man is very talented but his choice for some of his movies are not there at all.

Because you've grown up and some of the jokes are out-of-date and your personal experience has changed and so it's hard to get them.

they always sucked, the storyline started to suck in the nineties, you can only say muthafucker in the movies so many times until it gets tired.
