Officially since 1948, when the United Nations recognized the State of Israel. We have supplied them with military armament and supported them diplomatically as well. I know this scripture by heart, although I cannot cite it. Perhaps someone else can find it for me....It is from the old Testament. "I will bless those who bless thee, and curse those who curse thee". (God talking to the Israelites, probably in Genesis or Exodus).
t seems ironic that despite a literal history of hardship, genocide and the largest diaspora in the world, they have managed to maintain such distinction and resiliency. They have gifted the world in many ways.

USA starting backing Israel politically in 1948 when Ben Gurion then the first prime minister of Israel made israel a democracy instead of a communist satellite in the middle east for the soviet union..that is when the US starting backing ISrael politically... but spiritually the US starting backing the jewish community hundreds of years before present time because a lot of americans are judeo christians and as christians , a lot of americans owe their spirituality to judaism.. JESUS IS A JEW after all..
YOu want scripture for my position
In genesis god gave a covenant to Abraham , god renewed that same covenant with Issac, god again renewed the same covenant with Jacob and the present day israelites are direct descendents of JACOB
what is this covenant ...............it is in genesis " i will bless those who bless you , curse those who curse,, you sons will be like the stars in the sky. i will make you a great nation ... etc.... i dont remember the exact scripture but you can ask a local pastor or christian minister...

haha, i just saw a packet on this. usa supports Israel because of the Israel lobby(AIPAC) and the christian right activists. When America sees Israel and the Islamist radicallists, it feels like itself is offended as america to terrorists. and america thinks that israel is the only democratic country in a sea of autocrasies, and that a democracy has every right to defend itself. but i don't know when America starts to support Israel. It's not all Hizbullah's fault. Israel is too violent in some way, it causes casulties too. and Christians think that by helping Israel helps us to be closer to the Second Coming. and many cabinet members are Christians, so.

The United States began its support for Israel in the late 1940's when we had a substantial role in its creation in the middel east. This is not based on scripture so much as political history.

america has always supported israel, but even more during the bush presidency. it is an important ally because it is the only democracy in the middle east, and the only loyal ally in the middle east. Also, Israel needs lots of help defending themselves and US is doing the right think in defending people by helping out economically.

Are you serious? More than half of all foriegn aid paid out by the US in the last 50 years has gone to Israel. Israel would not even exist if it weren't for the support of the Western Judeo-Christian nations (US, UK, etc.).
