in toilets that are in a home and used on a regular basis. Is it considered stagnant water if it is not flushed overnight? Does putting the lid down help if these are true?

Depending on the type of mosquito, it takes anywhere from 1-7 days for eggs to hatch. Flushing a toilet at least once a day or keeping the lid down should take care of that.

The water has to be standing for some time for a mosquito to land, lay eggs, and then have the eggs hatch. Overnight won't do it, but I'd flush regularly and leave the lid down in any case.

Old tires, bird baths, flower pots, and kiddie pools left out all summer are likely going to be a bigger threat.

Your tap (and toilet) water is probably chlorinated, which kills mosquito larvae. The chlorine evaporates if the water stands long enough, but a toilet that is used occasionally is not gong to breed mosquitoes.

i don't believe so it has to be stagnant water not a movement for days. that's how their larvae grow and hatch. so a toilet that gets flushed regularly will not be conducive to mosquito larvae at all.

i seriously hope her toilet water, and mine for that matter, does not contain enough chlorine to kill anything by the time it gets to the house (flourinated probibly more like it)
