i love this song
i find there a man who look at his emotion like at faith..his love is like religion but he cannot state the relation with a woman he loves just like he doesn't know how to deal with God - he's not even trying anymore
it's a great description of desperate feelings

Oh, life is bigger
It's bigger than you
And you are not me
The lengths that I will go to
The distance in your eyes
Oh no, I've said too much
I set it up

(chorus)
That's me in the corner
That's me in the spotlight, I'm
Losing my religion
Trying to keep up with you
And I don't know if I can do it
Oh no, I've said too much
I haven't said enough
I thought that I heard you laughing
I thought that I heard you sing
I think I thought I saw you try

Every whisper
Of every waking hour I'm
Choosing my confessions
Trying to keep an eye on you
Like a hurt lost and blinded fool, fool
Oh no, I've said too much
I set it up
Consider this
Consider this
The hint of the century
Consider this
The slip that brought me
To my knees failed
What if all these fantasies
Come flailing around
Now I've said too much
I thought that I heard you laughing
I thought that I heard you sing
I think I thought I saw you try

But that was just a dream
That was just a dream

(repeat chorus)

But that was just a dream
Try, cry, why try?
That was just a dream
Just a dream, just a dream
Dream

I believe that the antagonist of this poem is literally trying to understand God, and in so doing is losing the man- made shackles of religion.

Peace.

Losing My Religion is a song about a man who has a crush on a girl, and is dreaming of "dirty things" he would like to do with her, and therefore loses his religion, and everything he once beleived in. He dreams of getting under the covers with her, then finding out she was not attracted to him. The lines "Now I've said too much I thought that I heard you laughing I thought that I heard you sing I think I thought I saw you try" depict the confusion he had from what he thought was "The hint of the century". Thanks for the 10 points

I haven't heard this song. But it sounds like someone that has turned their eyes off God and experiencing questions of faith. They are now feeling a loss that can only be replaced through repentance and seeking God's will for their life.
When we replace God with sin...we lose touch with our soul.

It must be a very sad and disturbing song.....

I read the lyrics....I knew the song but I still just read them just to see....

Seems as if He is speaking to someone who he just can't communicate with in the way he wants to and this person doesn't seem to be trying either. At one point he says...."what if these fantasies come flailing around...." as if he wants to say them but then he backs away....

I don't know...i could be wrong.

Great song off of a pretty lousy album.

To me it means losing faith...not necessarily just in relgion....but in anything that means a lot to you.

It is about being confused about religion, life, a relationship.

It's about self realization and learning that the world isn't perfect and such.....and the person that wrote it lost their religion because of that.....
