Multitasking is clearly not the most efficient way to build a car, so why would anyone organize any other workflow to encourage constant interruption and discourage any logical sequence when you have other options?

The mantra of multitasking seems like a dubious excuse to work with no rhyme or reason.

Cost-Effectiveness ( buzzword for "cheap") is key in car assembly line processes--and the darling towards that goal is multi-tasking. Plant managers who embrace this mantric idea are pretty much corporate suck-ups who realize multi-tasking can be prone to production slowdowns and defective product output--which DOES lead to logical assembly sequence screw-ups....but they keep it going.

They DON'T know better because they are NOT qualified to be in their current position.....a good reason why brown-nosing is very dangerous in ANY workplace.

Multitasking is just doing many things in a day but multitasking becomes easier when one accomplishes things with EFFICIENCY.I was a motel manager and after learning how to efficiently get an order down my tasks were easier. It's all in your order(or plan of attack) and timing......so you don't have to work AS MUCH is the idea.

multitasking is a companies way of getting more potential work out of an employee. the "jack of all trades, master of none" philosophy. specialists cost a lot, so companies are willing to get 2nd rate work cheaper than 1st rate work not so cheap. the downside is that if the work is done badly, it has to be re-done and even more that once to get it right, which costs more in the long run. the "penny wise, dollar foolish "philosophy is practiced by almost all companies
