You will have to do a little bit of research. You need to find a "Socket" for examply mine is a 478. You can easily find a replacement once you know the socket on sites like newegg.com. Easiest way to find the socket number would be consult the manufacturer website.

Read your motherboard instruction manual. There you will find the socket type of the processor, the processor voltages and the FSB speed supported by your motherboard. Try to find a processor that is in the ranges specified in your motherboard's manual.
Take out the old processor along with it's heatsink and it's fan. Put the new processor in the socket aligning the marked corners of the slot and processor. It should get in without needing any push. Install appropriate heatsink and fan on the new processor.
Now read again your motherboard's instruction manual and see if there are any jumpers you need to set to ensure your new processor works at its right voltages, speed, multiplier and FSB speed.
After setting the jumpers (if any), start the computer. The POST should show your new processor.
