"What happens to the used balls?" = are they thrown out, recycled, reused, resold, etc?

Im pretty sure its 7 hits or until it gets caked with dirt so much it will affect its path of flight when thrown. Or until it gets lost or busted.

I heard it was 7 pitches. I forget where I heard this but for the ones that aren't fouled off I heard they get cleaned off or thrown out.
