is it possible to play chords on a 4 strong bass?

i got an f on my first band grade because i had to play the g chord

the same thing happened to me but my band instructor is in sane you have to have 5 or 6 strings to play a g chord unless it is the power chord

Try forming a power chord with a bass guitar. You'll have your answer then.

The strings are so thick that you won't get a nice, clean sound like the guitar. Bass strings are not fit to be played together. The tone definitely is not made for that.
