I don't care if it is from grade school, middle school, junior high, high school or college.

(Mine was my 7th grade teacher Mrs. Houser: I sat right in front of her desk and she always had interesting stories to tell me about her and her family..She also listened to me, which I will never forget.)

Mrs. Thomason, kindergarden. I was a very home-sick child and she made it easier. I'll never forget her for that.

I had so many wonderful ones....

Mrs. Maggiore in 6th grade who actually brought art, literature, and reality into the drab little town I was raised in.

Mr. Devlin, in high school, for making Latin a living language, and raising the Caesars from the dead. I went to Rome about 3 decades after, and I cried when I saw the Coliseum..and I could hear him telling us about Rome under the Caesars.

I had many wonderful teachers...and a few real nightmares.

Mine was 10th grade English, Mrs Smith. She recognized that I was from an abused home. One day she said to me in private if you need to talk I will listen. Just knowing that made me stronger. That has been over 20 years and I was able to tell her the story a few weeks ago when I met her in a nursing home that she is now in. I thanked her for caring and for inspiring me in her quiet way.
