Earlier this week, pluto got demoted to a new category called the "dwarf planets" do you think this is fair? after all, pluto was called a planrt for more than 70 years! and to think that pluto, mickey's dog has been named after the planet and pluto is a lot of people's favorite planet.

Pluto was used, abused, and then thrown in the gutter.

Well, although it might have seemed rather unfair, even when they discovered Pluto, they had questions to whether it should be a proper planet, because, after all, it was no more than a ice comet orbiting the sun! Then they found Sedna (quite a bit more recently), and debated that though it too was a ice comet rotating around the sun, the both of them weren't true planets. If they could count those two comets as planets, it might mean a whole new generation of "planets" to come, for there are thousands of comets somehow orbiting the sun! Could that mean that each and every single astroid in the Astroid Belt should be considered as its own individual planet? Surely not! it would, in conclusion, be much, much simpler to just cancel out the legendary Pluto, (and not so legendary Sedna) from the records. Of course, this would be a bit unorthadox to some, as this could mean having to wipe out a generation of work and effort, and changing all the planetary maps and books, probably more trouble than its worth. For this reason I think the whole matter should still be under serious discussion.

The astronomers spend their entire lives studying the planets I think we should let them be the judge cuz we definitely don't know even half of what they do. So its OK.Besides what difference does it make in the lives of common men if Pluto is not just a Planet but a dwarf planet?

I've been hearing rumors that Pluto may actually be a moon to a planet further out, referred to as 'Planet X' But even if it wasn't a moon, and if it were considered a planet, if would have to be a double planet. It too has a moon, that is the same size as pluto itself.

No. I fully agree with the demotion of ex-planet Pluto. Yes, I think it was fair.

Read what Mike Brown, the discoverer of 2003 UB313 thinks about it: "It is scientifically the right thing to do, and is a great step forward in astronomy."

It was a planet for many years. Now its not. Maybe the question should be: "Should Pluto become an un-planet". Nixed by us mortals, degraded to just another planetary body. Sounds like a group of ol professors thinking up new ideas to make headline news. WHY DONT YOU JUST LEAVE PLUTO ALONE. Does this mean Mickey needs to tell Pluto he is no longer a dog, but a puppy? OR WHAT!

It should've remained a planet after all it was in the last 70 years and does it matter what size a planet has to be? The universe is without limits so there is plenty of space that has not been explored yet and I'm certain that in the very near future some other dwarf planets and perhaps as large as the earth will be discovered..., so why confuse people?

did you know that evry once in a while pluto and neptune trade places since plutos ellipses are longer than neptunes . when that happens pluto is number eight and neptune # 9. pluto has never been really classified since the 1930s there fore scientists have no idea of its composition.Pluto will be considered a planet or not until about 2014 when we get the results from the radiowaves. we sent and both planets align.

it WAS a planet, but not anymore. yes, i'm fine that it got demoted. i support change of traditional systems in light of new knowledge, for that is the only way for a society to truly progress.

Who cares?
If Pluto complains, I may reconsider my position!

Well, they knew it was a mistake when they did it (named it a planet). Just took a while to fix it. Now they have a better category for it. I guess the Astronomers are just doing what they're paid to . (I wonder if they get paid.....)
