Don't ever tell her that you don't like her as a girlfriend unless you really are forced to do it just like when she's the one initiating that subject matter but still the best way for you to tell her that is by saying, "I REALLY LIKE YOU BUT RIGHT NOW, YOU ARE JUST A VERY SPECIAL FRIEND TO ME."
And since you believe that she's thinking that you like her for your girlfriend, you should cut short this negative impression by limiting yourself in going out with her. Constant companionship sometimes leads to so much liking and this may be what she experienced out of your hanging around together.
When she does not see you often or get out with you that often, chances are, she will go out with other people and just hope that she will divert her attention to another guy who may reciprocate her feelings. That will solve your problem right now without offending her a lot.

Tell her you value her friendship and don't want to risk loosing her as a friend by giving her the title: girlfriend. If you two have a good strong relationship, and your friendship means alot to her aswell, then you both should be fine. Ofcourse it'll probably be weird for a little bit but eventually things should be back to normal.

first of all, what are you 10? platonic relationships(friends) dont work when one of the parties involved wants more than a friendship i would just end the friendship sorry but the truth is hard. good luck

I think ,since you have already established a frindship, you need to be honest with her. let her know first thing off that you value her as a friend, than tell her that you really need to let her know that you cant be any-thing more.Than envite her to hang out with the rest of your friends and you,to let her know she still is a friend. {You can never have enough friends].
