Addicted is too strong a word. Anyway milk of magnesia doesn't have any addictive element to it. Why don't you eat more fibers like grains to promote good bowel habits.

It sounds more like you might have an addiction to trying to loose weight.
Having to take a laxative to go to the bathroom over a long period of time can damage your system. You can try drinking a lot more water and lay off chocolate, caffeine, cheeses and some dairy. These tend to cause constipation.
If these do not work see a doctor.

Maybe you could ween off the laxatives? Laxatives are known to cause "lazy bowels". You should go to a doctor, but in the mean time fiber, fiber and more fiber. Lots of water too. Whole grains, beans, raw veggies will help tons. There is a fiber supplement out that is flavor-less and can be put in juice, water, coffee, soda or whatever.

Iw! I can't take that stuff. It makes me gag. Anyway, you're better with something like metamucil for fiber. But, if you want to remedy, make sure you're getting your 8 glasses of water a day and eat a few fruits and vegetables. Your diet/stress are likely the causes. Try to drop the addiction and maybe see a good nutritionist (sometimes there's one on staff at health food stores).

yeah...bullemics... see a doctor, get him to start you on a bowel program with some sort of cellulose fiber therapy. If you're young, this needs to be stopped. Living on laxatives is not a good thing. Add as much natural fiber to your diet as possible...whole wheats, peanuts if you aren't allergic, and if you are young, you won't want to hear this.... but the more vegetables and fruit you eat the better. BUT SEE A DOCTOR>

Do mean bowel problem? And since you are so young, you better lay off the laxatives because you are in for some terrible, long term medical problems, one of which is bulimia.
See a Dr and a counselor SOON!

Sometimes it is better to take something like lactulose which draws water to the bowel as opposed to a laxative. Go see your doctor; there are better ways than the traditional laxatives which do nothing to restore natural balance.

yes. Cure. Take lots of fiber ie. salads, broccoli, natural roughage, bran etc. Force your body to take the natural route. IT is ok to defecate (do do ) every 3 days. To go longer than 3 days is not normal. I am not a fan of commercialized fiber powders etc. If you have further problems go to the doctor.

Make sure you ge plenty of fiber in your diet, fresh fruits and vegetables are a good source. If you don't get enough in your diet, you might consider taking a fiber supplement such as Metamucil, which is a natural vegetable fiber (psyllium husk fiber). The store brands are just as good, Wallmart has one (Equate) that costs less than half the price of Metamucil. Stay away from meat and especially dairy products, and drink plenty of fluids, especially water, but not tap water unless you use a good water filter, because the chlorine in tap water kills the good bacteria in your digestive system. You might try an herbal colon clense too.

You also might want to take a supplement of good bacteria for your digestive system.

Take care of your colon and it will take care of you.
