We suspect that I may have had a miscarriage. I was a couple of days late and then I started cramping heavily (more than usual) where I had to lay down and not move. I was bleeding heavily and it continued through this morning and afternoon. Has anyone had a miscarriage before and could give me some advice. Thank you.

my friend, she had one yesterday...yea, she was experiencing a lot of pain and a looot of blood..

Symptoms of a Miscarriage:

The most common symptom is vaginal bleeding, which can range from light spotting to heavier than a period. There may be blood clots, or other tissue that is not clearly identifiable. Sometimes a sac-like structure is seen.

Some bleeding is very common during pregnancy, and vaginal bleeding does not always signal a miscarriage has taken place, especially if the bleeding is light and only lasts a short time. Bleeding that is prolonged or heavy, like a period, is more likely to lead to miscarriage.

Often there is cramping, with period-type pains. Some women find that the usual symptoms of pregnancy, such as breast tenderness, feeling sick and having to pass urine more frequently than usual, may stop unexpectedly

I miscarried last year, and the pain is quite intense, as well as the bleeding. Based on your symtopms, you might have had one, or you could simply be bleeding, but its best to know which.

A miscarriage is defined as heavy bleeding that soaks through a pad in an hour. without even doing an exam, the doctor diagnosed me as soon as i reached the ER based on my bleeding. The body basically goes into labour and sheds the material from the pregnancy, which is why you could be cramping.

You can complete a miscarriage at home by simply waiting it out, however, complications can arise. If there is any tissue left, it will start to decay which is EXTREMELY dangerous, so you really to get checked either way. Secondly, some doctors will order a D&C for you, which is a procedure which will clear the miscarriage for you, allowing you to not experience any more pain.

Basically, if you are having heavy bleeding and pain, I'd see a doctor to make sure you are okay. Miscarriages are awful, and very emotional, my heart goes out to you if you are indeed expreiencing one. However, the doctor might be able to diagnos that you are simply having a late period, which may ease your emotions.

Take care...

I had a miscarriage last year. Got cramps like you spoke about (they were actually contractions) and bled for 9 days - first 5 being really heavy.
You should make an appointment with your dr. and have him or her do some bloodwork to check your hcg levels. If your levels are dropping steadily, then you are having a miscarriage naturally and won't need a D&C.
I hope you feel better soon! If it is a miscarriage, remember that there was nothing you did to cause it, and nothing you can do to stop it. After my miscarriage, my doctor reminded me that you really don't want to hold on to the pregnancies that are miscarried, because that just means there's something really wrong with the pregnancy from the start.

Ive had 3 miscarriages and let me tell you each one was different. Bleeding is not a good sign. Get your butt to the Dr. And if they tell you that some bleeding is normal.... i don't believe that anymore....i had bleeding with all 3 of mine... and i lost one at 20 weeks, 19 weeks and 12 weeks. So don't wait.

see a doctor or midwife. if bleeding persists or is heavy go to the ER. take it easy. if you are wanting to get pregnant wait til youve had at least 3 normal periods before trying again. if you are not wanting to get pregnant, get some birth control.
